Last summer at RWA Nationals, I moderated an editor panel that was a real eye opener. I read the beginning of several dozen manuscripts and the authors took a public bath with the editor's comments. Tomorrow, December 9th, I'll be blogging with Marie-Claude Bourque (American Title Winner!) at her writer's blog MuseTracks. I'll be sharing the top 6 reasons editors stop reading. If you're an aspiring writer, you won't want to miss this. Plus I'm giving away a signed copy of A CHRISTMAS BALL to someone who leaves a comment at MuseTracks!
On Saturday, December 12th, if you live in New England, you can find me at THE BOOK OASIS, 311 Main Street in Stoneham, MA! I'll be signing from 10:30am-12:30pm. And if you can't make it, the lovely folks at THE BOOK OASIS stock signed copies of all my books and would happy to send them to you.
How's the Christmas shopping coming? I'm still in avoidance mode.

Oh! I can't wait to read your advise on Wednesday's guest blog! WHAT! I am almost done shopping LOL! only two things to pick up. Come on Emily, get going, one step at a time! LOL! Have a fantastic day!
Christmas shopping - I don't need to do a lot: we do St. Nicholas here, for which I only had to buy my father one book (he liked it!), but since I'm spending Christmas with my new boyfriend at his mom's place (in Norway! gotta like a... half-Viking ;) ), I wanted to get him something. I went out on the Internet and ordered a nice T-shirt for him, but now that it's arrived, it looks about one size too large! I hope he'll still like it...
At any rate, no daunting Black Friday practices for me. I was so impressed with the amount of patience you showed there!
Jane--I have both daughters and DH's gifts. Still need to buy for my parents, sibs & in-laws, nieces & nephews . . . and be able to fit in all in a carry on!
Suggestions?
Nynke--Not much shopping. That makes so much sense to me. We Americans always over-spend and as ridiculous as Black Friday is, Dec. 26th runs a close second. That's when everyone returns the gifts they don't want!
Congrats on a 1/2 Viking boyfriend! My DH is 3/4 Norwegian, 1/4 Dane. It's a good mix!
I'm almost finished with Christmas shopping. Just dropped off a gift at a nursing home for the name of the person I drew to give a gift.
Well, lots of Dutch people tend to overspend on St. Nicholas or Christmas, or even on both! I'm just blessed with parents who let me enter my 4th decade like the first 3 - with them buying most of the presents :).
By the way, wow, you do have quite an extended family to buy presents for! That sounds tough... My generic gifts options (jewellery, pocket books, mediterranean condiments, chocolate, wine, nice shower gel etc.) would run out long before I'd covered everyone, I fear. I wish you lots of inspiration!
Thanks for the congrats - I now feel a need to tell you that mine is 1/2 Norwegian, 1/2 Dutch, and has a real-life 'ΓΈ' in his name, which I really like :).
I have been so swamped with other projects, I haven't even considered Christmas shopping except for the 4 angels we took from the tree at church. I have a stash of things I buy all year for everyone, have not had the time to take things out to see what I have and what I need. Have some books on blacksmithing and wood turning I need to order for my DH and son for Christmas.
This just shows what a complete nerd I am... but I've been done Christmas shopping since before Halloween. I am a big geek, though.
I think, though, that next year I'm going to start getting everyone books again. I've been reading so many blogs lately, I've got a stack of books almost as tall as me that I need to read. Then I think I'm going to start buying romance novels for all my girlfriends for Christmas. Just so they can get used to reading them... :-)
Sandy--Good for you! Thanks for remembering someeone who might have otherwise been forgotten.
Nynke--cool about the crossed out 'o'. I can't even get my computer to make one.
Library Pat--Should have figured a librarian would be well organized enough to have bought things throughout the year! My librarian sister-in-law is so pulled together, even the cans in her cupboard are alphabetized!
Rebecca--Books are wonderful gifts. My DH gives me one beautiful hardback each year. Last year I got Mary Stewart's Merlin Trilogy.
