Partnering with an Indie Bookstore

I'm delighted to share that I'm partnering with THE BOOK OASIS in Stoneham, Massachusetts! The good folks at THE BOOK OASIS are stocking signed copies of all my titles and have developed a webpage that allows readers outside the New England area to buy autographed books online.

Not taking anything from chain stores--I'm grateful for the support my work receives from them!--but there is also room in the marketplace for the indie bookseller. Most of them offer used as well as new books. Indie booksellers really know their customers and are always on the look out for reads to recommend. And as an independent business owner, an indie bookseller is in a unique position to partner with local authors. THE BOOK OASIS has really pulled out all the stops and created a special page on their website where readers can buy signed copies of my books. (Perfect stocking stuffers!)

I'm looking forward to a signing at THE BOOK OASIS on December 12 from 10:30-12:30. I'll bring some Christmas goodies to share! But if you can't make it, you can still get a signed copy of A CHRISTMAS BALL(or any of my titles)! Deb and Dan will be happy to ship to you. (Sadly, the Christmas cookies won't make the trip, but I'll be posting some holiday recipes soon!.)

Is there an indie bookseller in your town? Do you patronize them?

Thanks, Cheeky. I'm really excited about it. (Only problem is now if no one orders on their site, I'll feel like a puppy who's piddled on the floor.)

I think this is a great idea. Especially for fans of yours to be able to purchase signed copies. I know that Diana Gabladon does this with an independent bookstore near here.

Give it some time so that people find out about it, and make sure you have links and info all over multiple times on your website, including next to the Amazon, Borders...buy links. If it's the same price, but you can get it signed. I'm going for the signed one every time!

Love that you're supporting Indies. We have one left in Springfield, MO, "Half-Price Books." It sells both used and new books, encourages authors to stop by and sign anytime they're in town. And the owners are GREAT supporters of local authors.

It's so great to see authors returning the favor.

Hugs to you.

The nearest good sized independent bookstore with a good selection is in another state, Asheville, NC, about 60 miles away. Malaprops has quite a varied selection. Closer to home, there is a store that carries new books as well as used books. Their new books tend to be local authors, gift type books, required reading books for the schools and the popular series. They don't carry much in the way of new romance except for some paranormal.

Great idea, Diana!

I don't know what I'd do without the Indy store near me. She knows my tastes and steers me to those books. I'll bet this one will find even more fans for you!

Booklover--I've put the links on my website, www.emilybryan.com. Please let me know if they aren't obvious enough. Thanks!

Barb--I LOVE Half-priced Books in Springfield MO! Cathy and her hubby are terrific and sooo supportive of romance. Every time I visit MO, if we fly into Springfield, I try to stop by and sign their stock.

Pat--The great thing about indies is that they are usually willing to order new books for their patrons. And the upside for authors there is that if they get requests like that, they are likely to order another for their shelves.

Ashlyn--Another reason it's great to shop indies is that those dollars stay local. Great for helping to lubricate our creaky economy!
