The Best of News!

I do NOT have to have chemotherapy!

Today I met my oncologist for the first time and he is NOT recommending chemo in my case. Because of the biopsy report (22 negative nodes out of 22), he is confident my cute surgeon was able to remove all the cancer before it could pack its nasty little bags and go traveling!

Of course, my oncologist is going to monitor me closely for the next 5 years, but if I don't have a recurrence by then I'll be pronounced cured.

I am thrilled. When I called my mom (who is a breast cancer survivor herself--10 years now) she was ecstatic (though she had already picked out a wig for me. Fashion is how she copes). My DH is so excited that his life sentence with me has been extended, he may actually let me out of cooking for a while longer. At least until my incision heals.

Thank you all who have prayed for me or sent healing thoughts my way. I appreciate you all more than I can say. And for someone who wordsmiths all day, that's saying something. Bless you all.

And bless God.

That is such wonderful news Emily! I'm so happy for you and the best of lucky with keeping cancer from coming back with its "nasty little bags and go traveling" where they shouldn't.

Thanks, Phoebe, LuAnn and Kelli.

I'm beyond thrilled! All I have to do is heal up from the surgery and I'll be good to go.

And as an added bonuse, I get to worry about retirement again!

I'm celebrating with you, Emily.

But I'm sure you would have looked great bald, too.

Congrats on the wonderful news.

Bald? Oh, Christie, do not go there. Some things are meant to be covered up in this world and I'm pretty sure my head is one of them!

Erin, Bonnie, Colleen, Jen, and Shannon--Thank you all for your love and support through this time. I'm so thankful for each of you!

Hi Emily, I am rejoicing with you. I am a survivor of uterine cancer and have been cancer free 9 years now. I know it's scary, but it will fade to the background of your mind as time goes on. Take it easy until you heal. If you are like me and have never had major surgery before you may over do. I split my incision open and ended up on my back for another 6 weeks. DON'T TO THAT!.

YOUR FRIEND,
RUTH

Genene, Mary, Ruth, Kelley and Nina (And everyone else out there who wished me well, but didn't have time to post) I truly believe the power of the prayers and healing wishes of my friends is what led to this wonderful outcome. Thank you all sooo much!

Neringa and Ash--Thanks so much!

I am so relieved I had to go to the beauty salon yesterday (Guess my mom isn't the only one who uses fashion to cope!) When I told my stylist why I'd skipped coming in last month (I'd thought I might have to make an appointment for her to shave my head rather than watch it fall out in handfuls) she said she'd have come to my house if that had happened. I was touched by her compassion.
