SAIL AWAY, Sail Away, sail away . . .

My DH and I are cruise nuts. I freely admit it. I don't ever feel like I'm on vacation any more unless the deck is rocking beneath my feet. We've cruised all over the Caribbean, around the Hawaiian islands and to Alaska. On Friday, we're heading for Bermuda. I can't wait!

Wind in my hair, the pounding surf, sand between my toes--I'm in heaven! I've heard the sand on Bermudan beaches is pink! I'll let you know.

This cruise is a little celebration for the DH and me. We're rejoicing in my recovery from the cancer surgery in December and my excellent prognosis. We're also marking another anniversary this month. Life is good and we're so grateful.

I won't have internet access on the ship. I tried using their system last time and not only was it devilishly expensive, it was disgustingly slow. But I will have posts set to go for you while I'm gone. I just won't be able to respond until I get back home.

I promise to take lots of pics and come home with a pink nose (I don't tan. I burn!)

Now it's time for you to share. Are you planning a summer get-away? What was your favorite trip in the past?

Have a wonderful trip!

We love cruises too, although we've only been on two. One to the Eastern Caribbean and one to the western Caribbean. I loved both of them.

I'm dying to go to Bermuda and it's so close to our home port, we don't even have to fly! Boston to Bermuda... Someday soon, I hope.

Be sure to post your pictures!!! I'd love to see them.

Thanks, Ash!

And I have another reason to thank Ash. She and I started critiquing together last Tuesday and she is one sharp cookie! It's hard to overemphasize the importance of another set of eyes on our work. (Let me just share that she is writing a hilarious paranormal series for SourceBooks. You'll love it!)

DH looks really happy in that picture! You must have a wonderful relationship.
We're hoping to get some sort of a vacation this summer, but at this point, we're looking at weekend getaways. With my schedule and the new grandson, we don't have a lot of time for traveling right now. But even a day or two can be energizing!

My DH is a happy camper most of the time. We laugh a lot (especially on the dance floor!). We started out as friends and we both feel so lucky to have each other. Someday I'll post the story of how we met.

Sometimes an afternoon away is all it takes. Living in New England, I love that fact that we can drive to Revere Beach and see the ocean whenever we take a notion.

Just a moment to breathe and enjoy each other is a get-away in my book.

Oh, sigh. A cruise. I'm with you, it's the way to go. Done the Caribbean, Mediterranean, Alask, Hawaii and Mexico. Really want to do the tip of South America and the New England. And Alaska again. But not for awhile...

Our summer fun trip is going to the Northern California Pirate Festival in Vallejo followed by the NASCAR race in Sonoma the next day...

Yes, I have a split personality!

Have a blast...which cruise line do you prefer? We be Princess fans...

Aarrrg! A pirate festival, huh? Sounds like a ripe good time, matey!

We've sailed on Costa, Dolphin (a tiny little ship that only carried about 500 passengers), American Hawaiian (which sadly went out of business shortly after 9/11. We were on the 2nd to last sailing.), Princess, Carnival, and Holland American. We really prefer Holland American, but are trying Norwegian this time.

My DH and I love cruises too! Hope to do the Alaska one soon. Last November we did 15 days on HAL from Spain transatlantic to Ft. Lauderdale. That was good but my favorite cruise was on Viking down the River Rhine. Fabulous and they include a bus or walking tour every day so you get to see lots! We will be taking the motor coach to San Antonio mid June when our son graduates from Basic training! We are excited for him!

Have a wonderful time on your cruise and take lots of pictures of the pink sand!

We are planning a week in Ponte Vedre Florida (just north of St. Augustine). We were hoping for a cruise, but hubby's schedule is too hectic and daughter decided to stay longer at her dads this summer. DH is going on a fishing trip to Alaska with the guys for much needed and deserved guy time and relaxation.

As for internet access... leave it alone and have fun!!! But if you ever really want to take it with you, look into a blackberry type phone that allows internet access. My husband and I use his as a modem whenever we are away from home. It was only an additional $20 a month for international use, and can be canceled and returned to normal usage at anytime. It works wonderfully. We go on road trips and I can book a hotel while we are driving down the interstate.

Have a great time!

Martha--You will LOVE Alaska! I can't wait to go back. We only did the inside passage and there's so much more to see.

Heather--Florida is another favorite place of ours. Before we started cruising, we used to take our kids down to see Mickey and Sea World and the Kennedy Space Center. Once in Sarasota, we were run out of the water by a 6 foot sand shark. We stuck with the hotel pool after that!
