On the Shelves!
Etirv, one of our regular commenters here, sent me this picture from her Barnes and Noble in Hawaii! Thanks so much for the pic. I'm delighted to see that STROKE OF GENIUS has made it to paradise.
But Stroke of Genius isn't the only new book on the shelves. Here are a few other great new stories from some friends of mine.
Christie Craig's Shut Up and Kiss me is a guaranteed laugh riot. Christie always makes me smile. If you haven't tried her, now's your chance.
Isn't this the most beautiful cover? Cindy Holby's new medieval Breath of Heaven is sure to leave you breathless.
Remember the American Title Winner, Marie-Claude Bourque? She was featured here on my blog a couple times and now paranormal fans will thrill to her debut title Ancient Whispers.
And of course, there's my STROKE OF GENIUS. So far the reviews have been good. Here's a sampling:
"This amusing historical romance is a classic gender war tale of the irresistible force meeting the immovable object. Fans will enjoy the love between the Charles and the Thames as Grace proves Crispin the genius is a dope when it comes to love." ~ Genre-Go-Round Reviews
"Wickedly enjoyable!" ~ RT BOOKReviews
But the most important reviews are the ones from my readers. If you read Stroke of Genius, please post a review on Amazon or B & N or wherever you hang online. Positive or negative, I always love to hear from readers. And if you enjoyed STROKE OF GENIUS, please tell your friends.
Thanks so much and happy reading!
Well, we know STROKE OF GENIUS is in Hawaii. Where have you seen it?

Welcome back, Emily, and congrats! I love that line, "Fans will enjoy the love between the Charles and the Thames" :).
I pre-ordered Stroke of Genius, but it doesn't seem to be getting here any faster... They now schedule delivery somewhere between June 7 and 17! :-/ I hope they made a mistake and it'll be here sooner...
Congratulations, Emily!!!
I know the bookseller in Plaistow, NH, whom you met, ordered a bunch!
You'll all LOVE this story! Especially if you love Alpha males.
Ash *the privileged critique partner
Thanks, Nynke. I'm sorry your pre-order isn't getting to the Netherlands in a timely fashion. I wonder what's up with that. Usually Amazon jumps the gun.
Thanks for putting up with my knuckle dragging alphas, Ash! ;-)
Emily!
Contrats on your release day. And the same goes for Marie-Claude, and Cindy!!! Release day always makes me bite my nails.
Here's to jumping off the bookstore shelves guys!!
CC
Christie--I hear you. A month before release day, my lower back starts going into spasms. And I don't know why. There's so very little we can do about it one way or another.
I think because we have absolute power when we're writing, we think we ought to be able to control other things about our books too. But once we turn the manuscript in, we're pretty much out of the loop. All we can do is hope our new little story will get a friendly reception in the world.
Hey, happy release day! I have quite the list I want to go buy today. We'll see who's got what before I resort to ordering online.
Happy Release Day everyone! I'm thrilled to be in such great company! June is a great month for new releases. So everyone snatch up those beach reads for summer!
Congratulations! I'll be at the store today, and I'll look for Stroke of Genius!
Thanks, Gillian! I always like to give local stores the business, but online purchases are so easy. Last Christmas, I did all my shopping online to avoid the crowds, but then I am the Anti-Shopper.
(My Anti-Shopper stance does not include bookstores. You can't beat browsing in the romance section with the actual books in your hands!)
Hey Cindy! Beach read is right. I need to stock up for our Saturday run out to Revere Beach. The water's too cold to swim in, IMHO, but I love the sound of the waves and the sand between my toes.
Edie, bless your heart! Thanks so much. It never fails to amaze and humble me that people are willing to plunk down their hard earned cash to have an adventure with my hero and heroine. Hope you love STROKE OF GENIUS.
Congrats, everyone! Dorchester sure is putting out an awesome bunch of titles this month. Bought three last night, buying more today and next week.
I've heard about Stroke of Genius on and off for ages (because I'm addicted to this blog), so I can't wait to dig in.
Yay, at last! It's here. I'm dragging the grandchildren to Borders today. (It's always a toss up as to who is dragging whom!)
Can't wait to pick up Stroke of Genius and Cindy's new medieval, as well--of course!! Historicals-are-me :)
Love the reviews, Emily.
Barbara--It's been a year since I ran the Stroke of Genius Name a Character Contest. This is the story Jane L's Bryce Wyckham lives in.!
So I guess you have been hearing about SOG for a long time.
Barb H--I'm looking forward to reading your medievals someday. ;-)
Congrats! Just got a Nook for my birthday, so I'm off to see if you are e-ready at B&N :)
Congratulations, Emily!!
And to all the other new releases as well! Hope you all have loads of sales!!
Congratulations on your new release, Emily.
Wow! What a selection of books you have given us to read. I can hardly wait curl up alone with them and start reading.
Congrats and Happy Release Day, Emily! Our local B&N is doing major rearranging and is moving the Romance shelves up front, yay!
Always think about you and I'll never forget when Hawaii was expecting a major tsunami this past February, you checked up on me... unreal, thanks!
Happy Release Day!
Tsueversteeg--Looks like Stroke of Genius is "nookable!" Here's the link:
B&N Ebook
Thanks for your well-wishes, Susan.
Sandy--It's fun to share a release day with my writing friends. We did have a pretty good mix of genres and styles, something for everyone.
Etirv--Yay for the Hawaiian B&N. Usually the romance department is in the back crammed under the stairs.
Glad the tsunami warning turned out to be nothing.
Booklover--Thanks for dropping by!
Happy Release Day, Emily! Wishing you many sales! :-)
OMGosh! Can you believe it? I just got a notice that someone has pirated STROKE OF GENIUS already and is making illegal downloads available on its release day.
I know books are expensive. That's why I try to give my readers a freebie with the online novella on my website. But having someone blatantly steal my work on its release day really frosts me.
Internet piracy is destroying careers. I wish someone would take the copyright infringement law and run with it because as a musician, I know the law has some teeth. The fines are huge, but it's up to the copyright holder to defend their own work. Not having a lawyer in my pocket, it's not feasible for me to do more than request the site take the download link down.
Any ideas on how to deal with this issue?
Thanks, Donna Marie. Sorry about the venting in that last comment of mine. It was so not directed at you.
Need to let my blood pressure settle.
Congratulation Emily :)
I am thrilled to have my release surrounded by such talent as you Cindy and Christie... slightly starstruck here :)
Enjoy your day!!!!
You too, M-C. I know lots of people are looking forward to Ancient Whispers.
Just popping by to congratulate you on your latest release!
Thanks, Phyllis. I don't always comment, but I have to tell you, I love your blog.
Congrats Emily!!
Ok I waited so nicely and I can't find Stroke of Genius anywhere here in Jackson Hole! Darn! I will be buying it on my way home Sunday for certain!
Best wishes for a great release day!
Congrats, Emily, on the new release! Your book is also available at the Hickam Exchange next to Pearl Harbor ... so that's two bookstores in Hawaii!
Hi, Etirv, glad to meet another romance reader here in Paradise!
I packed 10 romance books in our "just in case" getaway bags on Tsunami Saturday. Luckily I didn't need the bags but I did read the books!
And for Nynke in the Netherlands ... I became a romance fan when I found a beat up copy of a historical romance at the Army Thrift Shop in Schinnen (near Brunssum). It was a "perfect storm" - I lived across from the Limbricht Castle (near Sittard), I lunched with the European ladies, and the tulips added the ambiance of romance!
JaneL--Oh, sorry. Distribution is always the biggest hurdle for any book. Hopefully you'll find Stroke of Genius on the way home!
After all, Wyckham is waiting for you.
Kim in Hawaii--Yay for Hickham Exchange near Pearl Harbor!
That reminds me of my visit to that memorial site a few years ago. Since Pearl Harbor happened long before I was born I didn't expect to be so moved. The submerged Arizona, the watery tomb of 1177 sailors, still weeps fuel into the harbor after all those years.
I'm so tickled when my blog visitors visit with each other. I'm trying to foster a feeling of community here, so I love it when commenters direct their comments to other readers!
Wonderful news for all!
I will let you know when I have my copy in Cyprus! :)
Glynis--I'd love to know what you think after you've read it.
Congratulations on the release of STROKE OF GENIUS. I'll be looking for it. I've been buried in my garden and house trying to get a million things done before vacation. Won't get a chance to get to a store until we hit the road.
There are certainly a lot of good summer reads out.
Cindy's cover is lovely.
Hope the release goes well.
Excellent blog i love reading books .I would like to relax on beaches of bellapais and would like to read the books .
