Chasin'Mason

Before I introduce you to my guest blogger today, let me just share that my editor, Leah Hultenschmidt has posted my ERINSONG cover on her blog. If you have time, please pop over and leave a comment. Thanks!

Now, meet Stacey Joy Netzel. Her newest book, CHASIN' MASON is launching today! Tell us about your new story, Stacey.

Emily, thanks so much for having me today. I'd like to share the blurb for my new release, Chasin' Mason, and also tell you about my current contest.

One Contest—16 Chances to WIN! March 1-April 30th. No purchase necessary.

I'd love help spreading the word about my new western contemporary romance, Chasin’ Mason.

When his father announced his engagement to a gold-digger with a lying, scheming fourteen-year old daughter, seventeen-year old Tripp Warner left Warner Ridge Ranch and never looked back. Until the day he got the phone call that his father had died unexpectedly.

Reggie Reed lives with her guilt every day but can't quite work up the courage to track down the son of the man who raised her as his own. When Tripp shows up at his father’s funeral eleven years later--and a hell of a man to be reckoned with--he has no interest in her too-late apology. Worse, they’ve inherited half shares of the family ranch—but only if they work together to catch Mason’s Gold, the stallion a young Reggie let escape and made sure Tripp took the blame for.

Tripp proposes a secret competition to the beautiful witch who stole his life: whoever catches the stallion first gets the ranch all to themselves. It sounds simple, but once they’re out on the range, tempers and passions flare in the Texas heat and nothing goes as either of them expects.

Can they work together to keep the ranch, or will their past get in the way of their future?

Thanks, Jane! I wasn't sure how the contest would go over, but I'm very happy with the response. It's been great to meet new people this way, too.

Next up, a short excerpt for CHASIN' MASON!

Hi Jane,

I consider myself the Pied Piper of romance. I just play the tune and hope you like to dance!:)

CHASIN' MASON excerpt, after Tripp's father's will has been read:

“I have a proposition for you.”

She couldn’t help it, her gaze went straight to the bed. Just as fast she snapped it back up to his face. “A what?”

He lifted one nicely muscled shoulder in a careless gesture that didn’t fool her one bit when she considered the calculating gleam in his eyes.

“Maybe competition is the better word.”

“And what exactly would we be competing for?” she asked.

“The ranch.”

Reggie would’ve laughed, except he was dead serious. She crossed her arms. “What have you got in mind?”

“Who ever catches Mason wins everything, simple as that. Loser leaves.”

Her stomach gave a sickening lurch. This is why he agreed to the terms of the will. She knew he’d flipped to the other side too fast. But Ernesto hadn’t lied when he said she’d been trying to catch the stallion for years, though how he knew about it, she’d love to know. No way did she want to go up against Tripp like this, not with the ranch at stake. Mason was smarter than any horse she’d known.

Tripp stepped closer, crowding her personal space as he leaned in and taunted, “Afraid you can’t catch him?”

Stacey, I love the cover! Will you have the print version in Green Bay? If so, I'm a buyer. :) I think someone said that TWRP puts the print and email versions out at the same time.

Diana, love your Erinsong cover, too! I read Leah's blog every day, though I rarely comment, and I saw that yesterday. Very cool!

Stacey Joy Netzel said...

Looks like the website server fixed the problem!!

Loved the excerpt, Stacey! Sounds very exciting and I'm a sucker for horse stories.

After 19 years of marriage my DH and I moved to Wyoming and since we had acreage we decided to get some horses. I'd ridden a few fat Shetlands as a kid, but wasn't really a rider. Little did I know I'd been sleeping with a centaur all those years. My DH can RIDE!

What a thrill to see him galloping across the meadow and keeping his seat even when his quarterhorse, Cody, decided to have an impromptu rodeo. The DH made sure that horse knew there was only one stallion in the paddock. I have a picture of him with my little mare, Star on my website. She was 1/8 Welsh pony/7/8 Quarterhorse so she was short enough for me to mount with no trouble.

Edie--Thanks! I love the ERINSONG cover too! And you should comment on Leah's site next time. I know she loves to hear from readers and writers. Since your DEAD PEOPLE is under consideration at Dorchester (Best of luck, BTW!), it can't hurt to keep your name visible.

Stacey Joy Netzel said...

Emily, those shetlands can be little buggers. As a kid, I rode a friend's shetland who wanted back to the barn and nothing was stopping him. I broke the darn rein trying to get that guy to stop. He won.

I don't ride like I used to. Busy with work, family, writing. I may not have many more years with my Kaleb, so I really need to spend more time with him.

Too funny about your DH. A man on a horse is very sexy. My dh is sexy, but he doesn't ride at all. He'd love to sell the horses and plant trees in the pasture. Nope. You married me with horses, they stay. LOL

Edie, even though you didn't win AT, I really hope to hear DEAD PEOPLE will be available soon. :)

Congrats on the release, Stacey! My TBR list just seems to keep growing and growing.

Emily, it sounds like you are one lucky woman. What's sexier than a man who knows how to take control?
